Rise and Shine FAQ
Rise & Shine Counselling offers individual counselling, couples counselling, and youth
counselling, with sessions available both in-person and online.
We support clients with a wide range of concerns, including communication challenges,
anxiety and stress, relationships, life transitions, neurodivergence, grief, burnout, and
more. Whether you’re seeking personal growth, support through a difficult time, or a
space to strengthen your relationships, we’re here to help you move toward clarity,
connection, and well-being.
In Canada, counsellors are not permitted to diagnose ADHD. However, at Rise & Shine
Counselling, we offer ADHD-focused counselling and support to help you understand
and manage your symptoms. This can include strategies for organization, focus, time
management, emotional regulation, and coping with overwhelm. We can also provide
resources for where to seek a formal assessment if this is something that is important
for you.
We are happy to take a non-pathologizing, strengths-based approach if that feels more
comfortable, helping you develop practical skills and insights that make daily life feel
more manageable and balanced.
Yes, our therapists practice trauma-informed counselling, which means we approach
every session with an understanding of how past experiences and trauma can impact
thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Our focus is on creating a safe, supportive, and
non-judgmental space where you feel heard and respected.
We tailor our approach to your needs, helping you build coping skills, process
experiences at your own pace, and strengthen resilience, whether you’re working
through past trauma, managing triggers, or navigating ongoing stress.
Finding the right therapist is an important part of your counselling journey, and it’s
normal to take some time to find a good fit. At Rise & Shine Counselling, we consider
your needs, goals, preferences, and the type of support you’re looking for when helping
match you with a therapist.
If you’re unsure where to start, we offer a "Match with a Therapist" option to help guide
you to the best fit. Many clients also find it helpful to book an initial consultation to see
how the therapist’s style feels and whether you feel comfortable and understood. You’re
welcome to switch or try different therapists if needed. Our priority is that you feel
supported, safe, and able to make progress in a way that works for you.
